December 28, 2010 By Bill Boehlke Congratulations to former Seahawks defensive tackle John Randle, who will be inducted into the Texas Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2010 this coming February. A native of Hearne, Texas, John played defensive tackle at Texas A&I and was a two-time Lone Star Conference Lineman of the Year, and he was named to the 1988 All-American team. John entered the College Football Hall of Fame in 2008. His NFL career spanned 14 seasons with the Minnesota Vikings (1990-2000) and Seahawks (2001-03). Congratulations to John Randle and Jerry Rice, who today were elected as part of a seven-man class into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The class was elected by the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s Selection Committee who met the day before Super Bowl XLIV in South Florida. The newest members of the Hall were selected from a list of 17 finalists who had been determined earlier by the committee. Joining the former Seahawks in the 2010 class are guard Russ Grimm, linebacker Rickey Jackson, cornerback Dick LeBeau, running back Floyd Little, and running back Emmitt Smith. December 7, 2009 By Bill Boehlke Three Seahawks alumni are among the 25 semifinalists being considered for the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s Class of 2010. Cortez Kennedy, John Randle and Jerry Rice are among the modern era semifinalists for the Canton, Ohio shrine. The Hall of Fame’s Selection Committee chose the 25 semifinalists from the list of 131 preliminary nominees. Each of the remaining 25 nominees on the Hall of Fame’s Selection Committee’s list of nominees has been a semifinalist at least once prior to this year.
