The Seahawks in the 1980s sported a powerhouse defensive line featuring Jeff Bryant, Jacob Green and Joe Nash, and the man behind their success was defensive line coach George Dyer. Dyer came to the Seahawks in 1983 along with head coach Chuck Knox, and was an assistant coach through the 1991 season. He went on to coach for the Denver Broncos as an assistant for eight seasons, earning two Super Bowl rings along the way.

Jacob Green to be Inducted into the Texas Sports Hall of Fame

Texas A&M football standout and former Seahawks defensive end Jacob Green has been selected as part of the Texas Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2016 inductees. The ceremony will be held in Waco on February 2, 2016. Green played high school football in Houston for Kashmere High School, and signed with Aggie head coach Emory Bellard and earned three letters (1977-79) for the Texas A&M football team. Jeff Bryant (1982-1993), Jacob Green (1980-1992) and Joe Nash (1982-1996) were the primary anchors, and combined they played 40 seasons in the NFL - 39 with the Seahawks. The 10th overall pick in the 1980 NFL Draft, Green played defensive end for the team for 12 seasons. He was twice selected to the Pro Bowl (1986 & 1987), and was number three all-time in the NFL in recorded sacks at the time of his retirement. Green entered the Seahawks Ring of Honor in 1995. He now works in fund raising for Texas A&M, and also heads up his annual Jacob Green Celebrity Golf Tournament in the Seattle area, benefitting the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center.
