Avril was a linebacker for the Detroit Lions for the first 5 years (2008-2012) of his NFL career before joining the Seahawks in 2013. With a Super Bowl title soon under his belt that year, he would go on to have a Pro Bowl season in 2016. A neck injury in the 4th game of the 2017 season would sideline him for the remainder of the season, and he was released by the Seahawks in May, 2018.
