Sidney Rice Inducted into the South Carolina Athletics Hall of Fame
Congratulations to Seahawks Legends wide receiver Sidney Rice, who was inducted into the South Carolina Athletics Hall of Fame on October 20, 2016.
As a redshirt freshman at South Carolina in 2005, Rice had 70 catches for 1,143 yards (14th all time in SEC history) and 13 touchdowns, a single season receiving record for the Gamecocks. He was also a first-team All-SEC receiver and earned Freshman All-America honors that same year.
In 2006 Rice caught 72 passes for 1,090 yards and 10 touchdowns, including five touchdowns against Florida Atlantic, breaking a school record and tying an SEC record for most receiving touchdowns in a single game.
Rice was taken by the Minnesota Vikings in the second round of the 2007 NFL Draft, where he played four seasons (2007-2010) before joining the Seahawks in 2011. He missed most of the 2013 season with a torn ACL, and officially retired in 2014.
