The Seahawks placed safety Jamal Adams and receiver Dee Eskridge on injured reserve, and waived outside linebacker Frank Clark Sr. ahead of Sunday's game against the Steelers.

Three players were signed off the practice squad to take those spots on the 53-man roster: linebacker Patrick O'Connell, safety Ty Okada and tackle Jake Curhan.

Additionally, nose tackle Austin Faoliu and cornerback Kelvin Joseph were elevated from the practice squad for Sunday's game.

In addition to those roster moves, linebacker Jordyn Brooks was downgraded to out. Brooks, who left last week's game with an ankle injury, was initially listed as questionable on Friday's injury report.

Adams has missed the past two games with a knee injury, and was able to return to practice on Wednesday and Thursday, but Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said it was determined Friday he was not well enough to play. Eskridge has missed the past four games with a rib injury. Clark, who spent his first four seasons with the Seahawks before being traded to Kansas City in 2019, returned to Seattle to give the Seahawks more outside linebacker depth after Uchenna Nwosu went on injured reserve. He appeared in six games for the Seahawks, recording six tackles.

With Brooks out, Devin Bush is expected to make the start against his former team, while O'Connell will add additional linebacker depth along with Jon Rhattigan behind Bush and Bobby Wagner. The signing of Okada, who had used up his three practice squad elevations, gives the Seahawks safety depth with Adams now on IR, while Curhan will provide tackle and guard depth with Jason Peters ruled out due to a foot injury.

The Seahawks and Steelers face off on Sunday, Dec. 31, 2023. Kickoff is set for 1:05 p.m. PT. Take a look back through history at the Seahawks' matchups against the Steelers.
