Although drafted by the Seahawks as a running back, Edmonds saw duty as a punt returner for the team over 3 seasons (1986-1988). He returned a punt 75 yards for his lone career touchdown in his rookie season, and he still holds 1 Seahawks team punt return record: most punt yards gained in a season (419 yards in 1986). He was also an AFC Pro Bowl selection in 1986.

Edmonds would go on to play 1 season with the LA Raiders (1989), and was out of football for a few years before returning in 1995 to play for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He then retired from the NFL.
