As a defensive back for the Seahawks for three seasons (1977-1979), Autry made an immediate impact in his first game when he blocked a punt and ran it in for a touchdown against the Baltimore Colts. After his first two NFL seasons with the Minnesota Vikings (1976-1976), Beamon followed Jack Patera to Seattle, where he totaled 11 interceptions during his stay. He went on to play for the Cleveland Browns in 1980-1981, and then retired from the NFL.

Autry now lives in Minneapolis and works in the cement industry. He was in Seattle on Sept. 10 & 11, 2016, for the “Patera Era Weekend.”
