Melvin Jenkins Enters Hinds Community College Hall of Fame

Belated congratulations to Melvin Jenkins (Seahawks 1987-90, Detroit 1991-92, Atlanta 1993, Detroit 1993), who was inducted into the Hinds Community College Hall of Fame (Class of 1982) in 2006 for his achievements in football and track & field. Hinds is the largest community college in the state of Mississippi, serving approximately 19,500 students each year. After attending Hinds, where he was All-State in both sports (1981 and 1982 track & field, 1982 football), Melvin attended the University of Cincinnati (UC), where he was a starter at defensive back for two years. Pro Football Hall of Famer and former Seahawks wide receiver Steve Largent was in Canton, Ohio on April 8 as part of the museum's Educational Outreach Program "Heart of a Hall of Famer" series. Largent spoke during two morning sessions about the leadership and character traits that made him successful not only on the football field, but in all of his life's endeavors. Mike Pollom Golf Tournament Salutes Chuck Knox

April 5, 2011 Former Seahawks head coach (1983-91) Chuck Knox will be receiving a special salute as part of the 10th Annual Mike Pollom Memorial Charity Golf Tournament. The tournament will be held on Monday, April 11, in Rancho Las Palmas, California. Knox was inducted into the Seahawks Ring of Honor on September 25, 2005. The Mike Pollom Memorial Scholarship Fund provides scholarships to needy students at Coachella Valley High School in Coachella, California.
