Former Seahawks wide receiver Jerry Rice is one of seven legenday players who will be inducted in February into the Black College Football Hall of Fame. The hall honors the greatest football players and coaches from historically black colleges and universities. Former Assistant Coaches Land New Positions

One of the original players from the Seahawks' inaugural season has returned to the fold, and several former assistant coaches have found new positions in and out of the NFL. Sherman Smith has joined head coach Pete Carroll's staff as running backs coach for the Seahawks. Smith was drafted in the second round of the 1976 NFL Draft by the Seahawks as a running back, the first offensive player picked by the new expansion team in its first season. Congratulations to John Randle and Jerry Rice, who today were elected as part of a seven-man class into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The class was elected by the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s Selection Committee who met the day before Super Bowl XLIV in South Florida. Five Seahawks players from past and present are among the 53 players announced as members of the NFL's All-Decade team. Shaun Alexander, Steve Hutchinson, Edgerrin James, Walter Jones and Kevin Mawae make up the Seattle contingent.
